Our country has many festivals and pujas to celebrate. Diwali is one of the most widely celebrated festivals. Diwali is the festival of lights. The earthenware lamps, lit in the temples and houses, are said to mark the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile.

Diwali is celebrated in the month of October or November. During this festival, people clean and decorate their houses and shops with colourful diyas, electric bulbs and candles. Children are happy on this day and they burn fireworks and crackers. But children should be careful while celebrating Diwali.

Some people worship Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth on this day. Diwali is also an important festival among the Jains.
